Glyn Maxwell's widely acclaimed first collection Tale of the Mayor's Son marked the emergence of an exciting new talent in contemporary poetry. As well as being a Poetry Book Society Choice, it was shortlisted for the Mail on Sunday / John Llewellyn Rhys Prize and the Sunday Times Young Writer's Award. Now the prolific Maxwell has produced his follow-up volume, Out of the Rain, another brilliant and unashamedly bulky collection, more ambitious in scope and with an even sharper focus on life in Britain in the nineties.
