Rewriting collective narratives by returning women to their rightful place is a work that has been carried out in recent decades by the historiography of various artistic expressions. In the publication Fotógrafas Brasileiras imagem substantiva (Grifo, 2021), by the anthropologist, historian and curator Yara Schreiber Dines, we find an overview of the production of this field carried out by women since the beginning of the 20th century. A survey of photographers whose gaze points to varied projects, related to different trends in this language. This cataloging unites not only issues of visual anthropology and gender, but also those related to memory, integrating short biographies and testimonials from the photographers themselves or those close to them.
