This is the story of John Wilkes Booth's closest associate prior to the assassination of Abraham Lincoln. It traces Surratt's worldwide flight from Ford's Theatre to Italy and shows that he was a conspirator who may be the missing link between Jefferson Davis and Lincoln's death. The book culminates in the trial of Surratt after he was brought back to America from Italy and was set free due to the trial ending in a hung jury.--Publisher.
