This issue of the Yackety Yack yearbook focuses on the University of North Carolina's contributions to the war effort. The introductory essay describes the University at work, providing "high service for a time of war, helping our democracy to create, through vision and truth, its ideals." There is also a description of the campus as a military training ground, including photographs of students practicing military maneuvers. Included are many group photos of military units, along with staff lists.
